0.6.0
More of System Data explained. Nine new places: per-user caches, app support files, group containers, app logs, Adobe's shared files, Command Line Tools, the system logs and pending macOS updates. The Overview now says how much of the space in use Diskly can explain, and the summary line says how much looks safe to remove and how many places need a look in their own app.
Safe to remove, in the folder view. Installers for apps you already have, archives you've already unpacked and rebuildable caches get a green "Safe to remove" tag in the list, with the reason, and a line in the details panel.
Fixed: after turning Full Disk Access on or off, and after an update that measures more places, the "what grew" arrows showed growth that never happened. The comparison now starts over when what can be measured changes.
Fixed: a file inside a folder's "smaller items" group was counted twice after it changed; a folder you excluded in Settings was counted again after a live change next to it; nested places were summed twice in the System Data summary; scanning the whole disk counted the data volume and other disks twice.
Fixed: the Change column showed small drops on files that hadn't changed. Older change records are discarded and a fresh comparison starts.
Fixed: a delete that failed partway through a folder showed the folder's old size; checks of the Overview couldn't be cancelled, so a new one waited on the old; saving a big scan could stall the app for a moment after every change.
Fixed: the undo window counted down while the Mac was asleep; it now runs again after waking. Quitting during the undo window now asks whether to delete or put the items back. "Open at login" explains when macOS needs you to approve it in System Settings.
Safer still. Diskly's own saved files are checked item by item before anything in them can be offered for deletion; app leftovers never include Apple's own data, iPhone backups or Contacts; the duplicates search stays inside your home folder and out of tool folders like node_modules; an app only an administrator can remove is locked in the folder view, not just in the Uninstaller; updates are verified before they're unpacked.
Fixed: a stray outline inside the biggest tile of the map; "1 items"; the "Moved back" banner never appeared; standard folders like Public had no explanation; re-choosing a place after a failed scan did nothing; a folder that was moved or ejected stayed on screen. Uninstall leftovers now show their path.
0.5.1
Counting installs, anonymously. Update checks now carry the Diskly version and a random number the app made up on first launch, so we can see how many Macs run Diskly and whether people come back. It isn't linked to you, nothing about your Mac or files is sent, and turning off automatic checks in Settings forgets it. Details are on the privacy page.
0.5.0
Fixed: the Uninstaller could take apart an app that belongs to an administrator (one installed with a password) piece by piece, which could leave it broken. Diskly now says so and points you to Finder.
Fixed: suggestion paths were cut off in narrow windows; very long file names broke explanations mid-word; the remove buttons in Settings were too small to hit easily.
0.4.2
Fixed: opening iCloud Drive, or a slow disk, could freeze Diskly for several seconds.
Safer deleting. Every delete is checked once more at the last moment: nothing that has become a link to somewhere else, a mounted disk or one of your Mac's main folders is ever removed. The uninstaller validates what it finds in your Library, and its leftovers now start unticked.
0.4.1
System Data, summed up. The Overview now has a one-line summary of System Data: how much Diskly measured, across how many places, and how much of it is safe to remove.
0.4.0
Updates itself. From now on, Diskly offers new versions, so there's nothing to download by hand. It asks diskly.net about once a day; nothing about you or your files is sent.
A gentle reminder when space runs low. Turn on "Open Diskly at login" and Diskly waits quietly in the menu bar, then reminds you once when free space gets low. Clicking the reminder goes straight to what looks safe to remove.
A new menu bar panel. Free space, what's using it, and how much looks safe to remove, in Diskly's own colors.
Settings is easier to find, from the sidebar and the menu bar panel.
Tidier Overview. The back arrow appears only inside a ring, and suggestions light up when you jump to them.
0.3.0
Keep. Tell Diskly "I know this one", and it stops suggesting that item. You can undo this in Settings. (Suggested on Reddit.)
Reasons for uncertain folders. Folders Diskly doesn't recognize now get a short, honest note, like "the name suggests a cache, but Diskly can't confirm which app owns it". (Suggested on Reddit.)
Library folders name their app. See which app a folder belongs to, and whether that app is still installed.
A clearer last check. The delete dialog now lists the biggest items that are about to go.
More detail on suggestions. Each one shows its exact path, and the heading shows the total you could free.
Send Feedback. Now in the Help menu and the menu bar. It opens a draft in your own mail app.
Fixed: the total inside the rings could wrap onto two lines, and "1 files" now reads "1 file".
0.2.0
Signed by its developer and notarized by Apple. Diskly now opens without a security warning.
Explain with Diskly. Right-click any folder or file in Finder to see it explained.
Move to… Send big files to another drive instead of deleting them, with Move Back if you change your mind.
One right-click menu everywhere. Quick Look, Open With, Copy Path and more, wherever an item appears.
Folders update by themselves. Changes made in Finder or by other apps show up without scanning again.
Clearer iCloud Drive. Diskly shows what's on this Mac and what's only in iCloud, and warns that deleting reaches all your devices.
Fixed: a selected tile could spill out of the map.
